What Pitt
students say . . . Q: Are professors
here eager to help students or will they be inaccessible? A: Professors are
willing to help students who are willing to go looking for help. All professors keep office hours and
most will go beyond those hours if you need extra help, or direct you to
additional sources to help you understand the material. Q: What is a mentor, anyway? A: Ideally, a mentor is someone who can provide you with
support, challenge, and perspective. Keep your eyes open for faculty, grad
students, or others in the Pitt community who could help you figure out what
you need to do to succeed. Don’t be shy. Tell her you’re looking
for advice – and then be willing to show her that you’ve either
taken the advice or that you’ve considered it seriously before
rejecting it! Resources Ø The History of Women
