The Expeditions to Chile

Field work

The 1999 expedition

The 2000 expedition

The 2001 expedition

 The 2004 expedition

Our expeditions to Chile include researchers from different biological disciplines and, as a result, each expedition has multiple objectives that are achieved using teams of eager volunteer assistants. Our objectives include research in aquatic ecology, fisheries ecology, avian ecology, large mammal behavior, and geographic information systems (GIS) analysis.

Our volunteers always have a great time being exposed to this very different part of the world and working every day alongside the scientists. Volunteers

Volunteers And the volunteers aren't all just youngsters! Here we see several from the older crowd posing with our excellent camp cook, Nelson. We sure did eat well on that trip!

It's not just the volunteers that enjoy themselves. The expedition staff are able to interact a great deal with the volunteers and with each other as we share our meals and tell our stories. We find this to be a very relaxing time in which we make new friends and get to spend time around old friends.
