Summer Instructional Development Institute
The Provost’s Advisory Council on Instructional Excellence provides program and funding recommendations for the Summer Instructional Development Institute. The Institute consists of intensive professional development programs for Pitt faculty, offered during the summer. These programs are on topics related to university teaching. The Summer Institute is organized and administered by the Center for Instructional Development & Distance Education. See http://www.pitt.edu/~ciddeweb/events/ for additional information.
Teaching Excellence Fair
The Teaching Excellence Fair celebrates important teaching initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh and introduces new teaching resources. A major part of the Fair consists of roundtable discussions of teaching innovation grant projects that concluded earlier in the year. These are projects funded by the Innovation in Education grants program administered by the Provost’s Advisory Council on Instructional Excellence. The Council provides advice for the design of all aspects of the Teaching Excellence Fair.
Innovation in Education Awards
The Innovation In Education Awards program supports and further strengthens the role of teaching at the University of Pittsburgh. Administered by the Provost's Advisory Council on Instructional Excellence, the program funds instructional projects that:
  • Enhance teaching at the University of Pittsburgh, and/or
  • Foster improved instructional approaches
  • Foster collaboration among faculty from different departments, units, and campuses on the development of innovative approaches to teaching
  • Develop innovative course materials
  • Create significant curricular improvements

     
All full-time and part-time faculty at the five University of Pittsburgh campuses are eligible to submit proposals.
