FINDING OUR DEPARTMENT:

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures is now located at 702 Old Engineering Hall (formerly in 1501 Cathedral of Learning). To get to our new offices, enter "Engineering Hall" at 3943 O'Hara Street, through the main doors at the curved driveway. Use the elevator to the 6th floor. You will need to use the stairs to the 7th floor.


New Faculty Members

We are delighted to announce two new faculty appointments for this year.

Ms. Liping Chen will join us this year to head the new "Basic Chinese" language track. She is working on her Ph.D. at Rutgers University. She eceived her Master's Degree from Tianjin Normal University

We also welcome Ms. Yumiko Nishi who will be teaching in the Japanese Language Program while Professor Hiroshi Nara is in Japan serving as Director of the Konan-Illinois Program at Konan University in Kobe, Japan.  She is completing her Ph.D. at Cornell University where she received her Master's Degree in Linguistics.
