1783 Japanese Culture

W 5-6:05

1. This one credit course on Japanese Culture will focus on the theme of continuity and change in Japanese society and culture. Students will learn about contemporary Japan and the historical precedents to contemporary society. The class will consist of a series of lectures by distinguished experts on such topics as the Japanese economy, history, family, politics, business, theater, religion, literature, education, and fine arts. Slide lectures and videos will also be part of this series.

2. No prerequisites.

3. No recitations.

4. Expected class size: total of 60.

5. This course is usually offered in the fall term.
