Featured Composer at ORCHESTRA TECH in NYC: Nü kuan tzu was performed by Speculum Musicae (Oct. 11, Merkin Hall) at the American Composers Orchestra's National Conference on Technology and the Orchestra, Oct. 10 - 14, 2001 in New York City. The conference brought together composers, performers, conductors, music professionals, technologists, and educators, for a series of performances, presentations, lectures and symposia. The conference was part of the ACO's Orchestra Tech, a multi-year initiative to explore and encourage the integration of technology into the modern orchestra and to stimulate the development of new symphonic music using new media and digital technology. Tod Machover, of the MIT Media Lab, serves as Artistic Advisor of Orchestra Tech.
