Where you study makes a difference…
Who teaches you makes a difference…
The University of Pittsburgh belongs to the Association of American
Universities (AAU), a prestigious association of 62 of the most
highly respected research institution in the United States and Canada.
(As a point of comparison, there are about 3,600 colleges and universities
in the country.)
Undergraduate education is emphasized here, as are opportunities
for a diversity of academic experiences--whether on campus, or abroad
, and for experiential learning--like internships,
research experiences, and volunteer work.
Of course, outstanding teaching is integral to the best quality
education and the University rewards this quality in its professors.
Annually, University of Pittsburgh Chancellor, Mark Nordenberg,
awards the Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award to a
small group of professors known for the quality of their teaching.
Since 1984, 127 faculty have earned this award. Likewise, the School
of Arts and Sciences awards the Bellet Teaching Excellence
Awards.
