CLINICAL EXPERTISE:
Areas of clinical expertise
include two years of trauma/neuro intensive care, and 9 years full
time / 6 years p.r.n. pool in the emergency department. I have
also worked in ambulatory care in a community clinic, and have
prehospital experience as an EMT & paramedic.
I also have management experience as an off shift house supervisor
which included clinical problem solving for the staff, as well
as responding to all acute changes in patient’s conditions & cardiac
arrests.
TEACHING:
I have taught as a part-time faculty at the University of Pittsburgh
with sophomore level students since 2005. I teach the clinical portion
of NUR 0080 on an orthopedic unit and NUR 0082 on a general rehab
unit. I also assist in the skills lab during NUR 0080.
Previous teaching includes all levels of nursing education: L.P.N.,
and diploma, associate degree, and traditional & second degree
baccalaureate R.N programs. I have taught at all levels from sophomores
to seniors. Courses taught include clinical and/or theory components
of: foundations, adults with chronic conditions, adults with acute
conditions, community health nursing, and nursing care of families & nursing
care of children.
