Message from the Director
The MSRC was established in 1990 and has been a flourishing enterprise for education and research. Engineers, biologists, physicians, surgeons and staff work together to guide and teach our highly qualified students, fellows and residents on: 1) functional tissue engineering and tissue regeneration, 2) Ligament and tendon properties and joint biomechanics for new surgical procedures. The spectrum of our research covers the Molecular & Cellular, Tissue, Joint and Computational Level. Our laboratories, namely Mechanobiology, Tissue Mechanics, Knee Kinematics & Robotics, and Shoulder Dynamics are organized to focus our research efforts.
Our center has earned a national and international reputation of excellence in basic and translational research. We collaborate with investigators all around the world. We hope that after reading about us here, you, like over two thousand of our friends, will want to come to the University of Pittsburgh and visit the MSRC in person.
Sincerely,
Savio L-Y. Woo, Ph.D., D.Sc. Director
