MATH401 - DISCRETE MATHEMATICAL STRUCTURES FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE

About this course

This course is a math course for Computer Science majors.  The course introduces the student to concepts, ideas and structures that have relevance within the Computer Science field.  There is an emphasis on solving problems rigorously and logically.

Reading the Book and Practice

It is vitally important in this course that you read the book and work through the examples and practice problems in the text.  I will also assign practice problems that relate specifically to topics covered in class.  If you cannot do them then ask.  I will go over practice problems in class if necessary or come and see me after class or during office hours.

This course will test your thought processes in a different way to other math classes.  You may find the material difficult and confusing at first but you will improve by doing problems.  Mathematical results are the result of hard work, patience and perseverance
