
Undergraduate and Graduate students may be able to participate in any of these clinical-research areas:
(note -- the following files require Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded here).| Assessment and treatment of children with conduct disorder or oppositional /defiant disorder. | Assessment and treatment of juvenile sex offenders and their families. | Assessment and treatment of child or adolescent firesetters and their families. | Assessment and treatment of children with behavior problems and their families in a pediatric setting. |
Note: Graduate students may be eligible to assist with treatment administration and delivery, contingent upon training and level of involvement.
Sample tasks that may be completed by a student include the following:
1. To assist in revising assessment protocol procedures for screening, recruitment, and assessment, and follow-up; work with colleagues to retrieve sensitive information in the record;
2. To help with liaison efforts to inform community and WPIC staff about the project and facilitate positive public relations efforts.
3. To collect background information and screen for case eligibility using computer and/or calls to caseworkers; contact and schedule families for grant project assessment; contact project cases, caseworkers, and their service providers; follow prescribed research protocol for contacting collateral sources.
4. To conduct clinical-research assessments for collection of study data in the family's home or project office by administering interviews, psychological rating scales, and questionnaires; complete other data collection and entry functions, such as making phone calls to parents or workers; some help with collection of archival data from CYS (caseworker record review);
5. To organize materials and prepare data for statistical analysis; prepare necessary documents such as reports and project summaries in a timely fashion.
6. To assist in data entry and management functions of the project such that all relevant materials and files are completed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely fashion.
7. To assist in mailing project materials to families, workers, and/or caseworkers, and retrieval of project data.
8. To maintain contact with other project staff to identify issues in need of resolution; maintain good working relationships and interact with all staff and non-project personnel in a positive, constructive and collegial manner.
9. To provide assistance to project staff as requested to assure their completion of all tasks/operations and assure the integrity of all research data; assist in identifying useful information at intake and closure; track these milestones in study families.
