City/County Relations
City/County Relations is responsible for governmental activities between the University of Pittsburgh and the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. It is the University's principal source of information on city and county governmental matters and is the institutional point of contact for local governments.
City/County Relations...
- Develops and implements strategies to provide a positive interface with the city of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and other surrounding county and municipal governments;
- Provides and facilitates communication between Pitt faculty, staff and students and local municipal elected officials, department administrators and their staffs;
- Conducts and coordinates activities and programs with the office of Community Relations;
- Coordinates University testimony before City Council and other commissions and authorities;
- Represents the University's interests on committees and task forces such as: Mayor's Oakland Task Force, the Nuisance Bar Task Force and the Code Enforcement Task Force;
- Distributes proposed City Ordinances of potential interest/impact to University departments, and;
- Obtains amusement, special event and building permits needed by the University of Pittsburgh
