Welcome to the Consortium Ethics Program at the

University of Pittsburgh.

The Consortium Ethics Program (CEP) is an ethics education network, funded by its member institutions and co-sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Bioethics and Health Law.

Founded in 1990, the nationally acclaimed ethics education network trains staff members from participating health care institutions in the language, methods, and literature of health care ethics.  These staff members or "representatives" work with their administration and the CEP directors to devise an ethics plan to meet their institution's needs.  The plan can focus on forming, "resuscitating" or educating an ethics committee, educating institutional staff, conducting policy review, developing an ethics consultation service and/or carrying out community education.  The CEP is currently enlisting new members.  Learn more about the CEP
