Part of being a true Stones fan includes collecting various memorabilia. For some, this may be limited to ticket stubs and CD's, while others want anything and everything! While I tend to focus on attaining books and videos, I am also very interested in rare or cool items as well. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to document many of the items in my collection. However, this page is a sample of some of my favorites. Hope you enjoy it!
Rare,
original
November 9, 1969 Oakland Coliseum (California) concert poster. There
were
two shows on this date: one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 10:30. Some songs
from
the latter were included on the infamous bootleg "Live'r Than You'll
Ever
Be." Ticket prices for the concerts ran from $4.50 to $7.50! This
framed
poster currently hangs in my living room and is one of my favorite band
photos of the period.
1973
Hawaii
tour program. The Stones performed at the International Sports Centre
in
Honolulu on January 21st and 22nd. The program is considered more
valuable
(or rare) since it was made specifically for the Hawaii shows, unlike
more
general tour programs produced for other tours.
Keith
Richards'
signature skull ring. Since the late 1970's, this skull ring has
adorned
Keith's finger. (He had a skull & bones one that he previously
wore.)
While at one of his Main Offender Tour solo concerts, I bought the
replica
pin. Now I own the small ring.
The Stones
announced
their 2002-2003 North American tour in NYC with a blimp. This is
the inflatable replica.
Miss
You 45 RPM
single picture sleeve. This record was released in May and June 1978 in
the UK and US respectively and included Far Away Eyes as its B-side.
The
12 inch extended dance mix release is more sought after by collectors,
as the vinyl is pink. I also own a large poster of this sleeve.
Keith
Richards circa
1970's air-brush design teeshirt. There were only six of these created
by an Ohio artist in 1997 for female Keith fans commonly referred to as
the "Keith Richards Mafia" (of which I am a founding member.) Back of
shirt
has encircled mafia name written in script in red ink with stars. This
photo is a bit yellow, but the shirt itself is very clean with
brilliant
brown eyes.
Ron
Wood/Keith
Richards holiday postcard. In December 1985, this was sent to all
subscribers
of Beggars Banquet, the Stones fanzine written and published by Bill
German.
Unfortunately, they didn't continue this tradition annually! Keith
wrote
"Happy Holidays To All Beggars Banquet readers" and Ronnie wrote "Love
and Merry Christmas to Beggars Banquet People" along with a sketch of
himself
with a beard and mistletoe.
First
official Rolling
Stones picture disc. Made in France. Album itself is a "best of"
compilation.
Side A photograph (shown) taken circa 1969. Side B photograph (back
side,
also with Brian Jones) shows the Stones lying on the floor in a circle,
heads inward, circa 1968/69.
Rolling
Stones rectangular
picture disc. Document Records 014 EP of the Stones live at Camden
Theatre,
London, 3-19-64. Side A (photo side) consists of Route 66 and Cops
&
Robbers, while Side B (the back side with info) includes You Better
Move
On and Mona. Note that the photograph is from circa 1966, however.
The
Rolling Stones
Official Fan Club Membership card. This was included in the Fan Club
kit
which was sold in 1983. Back of card notes "As a charter member of the
Official Rolling Stones Fan Club, you are entitled to all special
offers,
discounts and other membership privileges available only through the
Fan
Club." In reality, this was meaningless, as the club briefly existed in
name only. However, the kit is pretty cool.
"The
Rolling Stones
featuring Keith Richards" Japanese book of b&w/color photographs by
Bob Gruen. Great photo book of Keith with and without the Stones
1972-1987
with limited Japanese/English text. Also includes a few pages of the
Stones'
various set lists and bootleg information. Blue wraparound band with
Japanese
writing on lower cover can be removed.
The
Rolling Stones
Official Fan Club Member pin. Included in the Fan Club kit which also
had
an album collage poster, separate color pictures of the band
w/imprinted
signatures, an interview 45 RPM record, a b&w reprint of the
Stones'
passports from the mid-70's, tour poster postcards, a enlarged
reproduction
of the Hyde Park '69 concert press pass, and a copy of Brian Jones'
letter
to promote the band in 1963.
Brown
Sugar/Bitch
limited edition 45 RPM shaped picture disc (record), released in 1984.

Tumbling
Dice promo
45 RPM single (record) with die-cut tongue/mouth sleeve. This promo 45
with the blue/white label has both mono and stereo versions of Tumbling
Dice. The pink sleeve was used in the early to mid-1970's for various
Stones
singles and is considered semi-rare in today's market.
Voodoo
Lounge tour
leather jacket. This is one of the official jackets for the tour.
Embroidered
devilman logo on left arm with "STONES 94/95" above and "Voodoo Lounge"
beneath. Also has silver/black tongue zipper pulls. Note the
embroidered
red tongue on the right wrist and rare Keith skull ring replica pin on
lapel.
Rare
Rolling
Stones tongue/lips telephone. This is a real working phone that was
sold
by Tristar International Ltd. in 1983 at various speciality stores. The
removable tongue is the receiver with pushbutton dial. Unfortunately,
mine
doesn't look as perfect as this photo, as I used it as my main phone
for
over 7 years. However, there's nothing like talking into a tongue, even
if it is sometimes difficult to hang up!
Keith airbrushed
design
on the back of my leather jacket, created by an artist in Hollywood,
California.
One of the best!
The Rolling
Stones
bobblehead dolls! Very well made and accurate (outfits circa
B2B/No
Security tours.)
