Faculty position in Ecology/Evolution The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates making one full-time tenure-track faculty appointment in the area of ecology-evolution beginning September 2009, pending budgetary approval. The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is currently seeking qualified applicants for two visiting faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer in Biological Sciences. The positions are outside of the tenure stream. One of the positions would include teaching duties in INTRODUCTORY BIOLOGY and DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY. This position also would involve teaching a summer workshop for high school teachers and participating in outreach activities during the regular academic year. The second position is for a specialist in COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY/INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLGY. The duties involved in this position include coordinating departmental computing and educational technology and teaching a course in Computational Biology. The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates making a non-tenure stream faculty appointment to serve as Associate Director of the Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology (PLE). The position is scheduled to begin with the Summer 2000, subject to budgetary approval. The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent experience. Experience with Biological Field Station operations, development and educational programs is desirable. PLE is a growing mid-size field station in Northwestern Pennsylvania that serves research and educational missions. The Associate Director will be responsible for interfacing, strategic planning with operational management of the station. The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is currently seeking qualified applicants for an Outreach Coordinator. This is a faculty position outside of the tenure stream, and the successful applicant would hold the title of Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences. The appointment is subject to administrative approval. Duties include implementing and overseeing programs for Middle and High School science students and teachers as funded by an award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Biological Sciences Education Program and teaching a Pre-Biology Course for undergraduates.
